Email Power Heat SinksMany high heat flux thermal management applications require a compact, lightweight cooling solution or a heat sink with small foot print area. These applications demand high heat sink performance in limited space, requiring a highly efficient heat sink. Enertron's line of Power Heat Sinks was designed to solve such problems. Due to a limited foot print area and tall heat sink fins, heat pipes are used to maximize the efficiency of the fins. This is achieved by taking the heat from the heat sink base and transferring it to the tops of the heat sink fins using heat pipes. Simultaneously, the heat pipes increase heat spreading across the heat sink base, further increasing the overall efficiency of the heat sink.Enertron Power Heat Sinks
The performance of one of the power heat sink is depicted in Figure 1. A power heat sink was compared to an identical heat sink without added heat pipes. It can be observed that by adding heat pipes, the heat sink is able to dissipate 25-30% more heat at the same temperature increase.
